At Olga's Spa in Highland Park, beauty is readily apparent and this does not apply to the facials, manicures, pedicures, body wraps and other services the popular spa provides. It has to do with the heartfelt caring Olga and her employees display, and the truly beautiful effort they make each year to support The Rory David Deutsch Foundation.

This marks the third year that Olga has held this fund-raiser and donated 100% of the spa's revenues for the day to the Foundation. In addition to Olga's generosity, many of her employees donated their time as well.

The event, held on Sunday, October 21st, was phenomenally successful, almost doubling the results of last year. This year's total of $7,561 was raised for The Rory David Deutsch Foundation.

What made 2001 so extraordinary? According to owner, Olga Nisenboim, factors contributing to the success may have included a delicious food buffet, a silent auction and raffle both of which featured very desirable items and prizes. "The prizes we offer in the raffle and silent auction come from local businesses and others who are generous enough to donate all kinds of attractive products, goods, or services. This year, we were especially fortunate to be able to offer some really valuable items, including a basketball signed by Michael Jordan and footballs signed by Bears stars, Gayle Sayers and Shaun Gayle."

These things may have helped to make this year's fund-raiser special. However, Olga must also be acknowledged for her heartfelt hard work in planning the event, getting the word out, and even going door to door to collect prize contributions. Those who purchased items should be applauded also. Olga noted, "In many cases people bid far more than the actual value of items. It was very touching to see everyone giving so generously on behalf of this wonderful cause. It's what makes me want to do it again and again."

It's clear that at Olga's, beauty runs more than skin deep.
