Once again this spring, support for the work of the Foundation will blossom at Saks Fifth Avenue in Highland Park. "The details are being sewn up now for a wonderful fund-raising event," says John Cruz, General Manager of the store. "We don't have an exact date yet, but our intention is to top last year's very successful affair. With everyone's dedication and enthusiasm for 2002, I'm sure we'll do it. This is a special store, one of Saks' jewel boxes, so we expect a lot."

Cruz explains that the store, located at 1849 Greenbay Rd, is not a full-line Saks store. Merchandise here is specially selected for the shoppers in this area. "We also take pride in an unusual level of customer service," John explains. He adds "Service, sensational fashions, great buys and more than a few delightful surprises will greet our guests when we open the doors for our special fund-raiser."

Last year, according to Cruz, the store gave ten percent of all the proceeds collected from six p.m. to nine p.m. to The Rory David Deutsch Foundation. Rosebud Restaurant donated food and wine was served, which made the affair even more special – and successful. Cruz notes that more than $5,000 was raised to help promote the understanding and treatment of brain stem gliomas.

When asked why the store takes such an active interest in helping, Cruz says, "First, of all, it involves children and Saks has a strong history of support for children's causes. We are also highly supportive of Rory's cause because this particular childhood disease is so tough to fight and affects many children. The Foundation also has its roots in Highland Park," he adds. "It's kind of a home team Highland Park organization and that's another reason Saks is pleased and proud to be involved."

This year, as winter starts to fade, Saks will be springing into action to help hope for a cure to blossom even more. For exact event dates and details, call John Cruz at 847-681-5200.
