Steve Kessler of CD City in Highland Park calls himself the "last
of a dying breed." Why? He still owns an independent music store
that sells CDs, DVDs, and electronics at a time when much larger music
stores are taking over the top of the sales charts from smaller "mom
and pop" music shops.
If Steve is a dying breed, we say long live his personal caring and way
of doing business! At his store at 593 Elm Place in Highland Park, he
is a hands-on owner. He gives every customer his vast retail experience
and 35 years as a musician to the joyful "gig" of assisting
music lovers. We are delighted that Steve and his unique store will be
helping to raise money and awareness for The Rory David Deutsch Foundation.
Steve notes that he's been committed to helping out ever since Ross Deutsch
came into the store and explained the Foundation and its goals. "So
far," says Steve, "we've contributed money and promoted fund-raising
events in store. Recently I told Ross I wanted to up the volume of our
participation even more. We'll basically do whatever needs to be done,
whether that's a special sale event where proceeds are donated, or some
other way of generating interest, involvement, and funds."
Having Steve and CD City working so harmoniously with the Foundation
is music to everyone's ears.
