JAB Produce:
A Fresh Idea for Rory
Steve Serck’s company, JAB Produce, sells fresh produce to grocers all over Chicagoland. For Steve the weekend before July 4th is one of his busiest of the year. This is the reason he chooses this time slot, to hold what has become an annual event, for The Rory David Deutsch Foundation.

On July 1, 2005, JAB Produce is sponsoring its own “Rory Day.” On that day, five percent of all sales will be donated to The Foundation. “I have known the Deutsch family a long time and, of course, I know about The Foundation,” Steve said, who is also a member of their Board of Directors. “I just decided that whatever I can do for The Foundation, I am going to do. We put up banners in the store and promote it heavily. My employees also engage in individual contributions that they donate to The Foundation.” With customers who typically buy produce by the truckload, this is a big day for Rory.

It is also a big day for Steve. “Rory Day” reflects a personal commitment to the importance of family. “My company is named after my boys. JAB stands for Jacob, Adam, and Benjamin. My children are important to me, just as Ross’ children are important to him. ‘Rory Day’ helps us all remember just how important our families are.” Steve Serck’s fresh idea gives us all something to celebrate!

JAB Produce is located in the Chicago International Produce Market, at 2404 South Wolcott in Chicago. For more information, call 312-226-7805.
