Fitzpatrick’s Star Continues to Shine for Rory

Tony Fitzpatrick has earned a national reputation for his art, as well as his interest in working with children through his charity, the Children’s Art Initiative. In 2003, he created an etching that he contributed to The Rory David Deutsch Foundation. This etching entitled “Rory’s Star,” was used to create a limited edition of forty lithographs. The etchings sell for $800 each and all of the proceeds go to The Foundation. Rory loved stars and, Tony said, “…a star is eternal and there is something about Rory that is eternal too.” For more information on the lithographs, just dial 888-919-RORY.

We caught up with Tony as he was on his way to New York to promote his brand new book, The Wonder: Portraits of a Remembered City. The book is both a personal diary and chronicle of Chicago. Tony spins magical tales about his beloved city via drawing-collages, vivid combinations of drawings, and text. It also includes applied elements such as matchbooks, postcards, gambling slips, and ballgame stubs. While preparing the book for publication has taken a lot of his time recently, Tony pledged his continued support to The Foundation. “I am happy to be a part of the hugely important work The Foundation is doing,” he said.
