Olga’s Spa in Highland Park is second to none for facials, manicures, pedicures, body wraps and other beautifying services. Olga and her staff are also first in our hearts for the deep caring they display each year in support of the work of The Foundation. This year, Olga Nisenboim and staff continued the giving tradition in two ways. “We participated in the Highland Park Charity Drive,” she explained, “donating ten percent of all product sales during one week in March, 2003. We also had our annual spa day,” she said, “where the shop donates one hundred percent of the revenues we generate to Rory’s Foundation. We have food, a big raffle, but the main thing is a silent auction. We had some really special items this year: an authentic Bulls practice jersey signed by Michael Jordan, a helmet signed by Brian Urlacher of the Bears, and a football signed by Gale Sayers of the Bears. Just to make sure we had all the sports bases covered; we had a Chicago Blackhawk jersey signed by Chris Chelios. It was framed and looked wonderful.” Ogla continued: “People were very generous in what they provided for our auction. We offered a studio portrait session from Norman Phillips Photography, workouts, dinners at restaurants, and much, much more.” The spa’s silent auction spoke loud and clear, as it always does about everyone’s level of caring. According to Olga, the event raised $8,600, which surprised the owner. “The economy is not great,” she noted, “I was afraid the response would be off this year, but it was not. In fact, it was higher than ever. I was so glad.” Thank you, Olga and all others responsible for such a gorgeous effort!
