The Giving Beat Goes on at CD City and Tours With Kessler Too. Right out of the movie, Steve Kessler, owner of CD City is “Almost Famous.” He is in the spotlight two ways: for his willingness to promote Foundation fund-raising events at his store and literally, when he takes his successful new band on the road and rocks out. “I have always had CD City,” Steve explains, referring to his distinctive store in Highland park where you can purchase CDs, DVDs and electronics, “but the four piece band and its success is a whole new thing for me. It has taken off and we are booked for all kinds of gigs doing a mix of original and pop rock favorites. We are heavy on guitars and percussion. Two of us share vocals.” Steve’s voice is heard not only on stage, but loud and clear in continuous support of The Rory David Deutsch Foundation. “This year,” he says, “we will be accepting contributions at the store in Highland Park and when we are on the road at upcoming concert events.” Stop in at the store at 593 Elm Place in Highland Park. Mark your calendar to hear Steve’s band at the Landmark Inn in Northbrook on the 19th of July at 9:00 p.m. Thanks to Steve, the giving beat goes on in Rory’s name.
