Campus Colors Scores Three-Peat With “March Madness” Raffle Last year, Campus Colors scored a major success on behalf of Rory and the fight against pediatric brain stem gliomas. This year, owners Barbara and Neil Rubenstein, along with many contributors, made it a “Three-Peat” with two more successful fundraising events. For 2003, the nation’s largest retailer of collegiate licensed clothing and accessories took to the court as an eager participant in the highly successful Highland Park High School Charity Drive. This was followed with a slam-dunk raffle staged before the start of the NCAA “March Madness” basketball tournament. The three Campus Colors locations, Highland Park, Hinsdale, and Naperville, took part. They offered a shot at a #23 North Carolina basketball jersey autographed by His Airness himself, Michael Jordan. This brilliant game plan for Campus Colors scored tremendously. “We are so pleased that things went well,” said Barbara Rubenstein, “and we were able to give The Foundation a check for $3,500. We are even happier that the raffle topped last year’s contribution by quite a margin!” According to Barbara, any purchase over fifty dollars earned an entry in the raffle and a chance to take the jersey home. All raffle ticket proceeds, as well as a percentage of sales from all three stores, were donated to The Rory David Deutsch Foundation. “Last year,” explained Barbara, “we had a Highland Park winner. This year, Billy Duffy, a fifteen-year-old boy from Clarendon Hills won the jersey and was out of his mind with excitement!” When asked what inspired them to participate, Barbara explained, “My husband and both my sons went to the evening with Coach K. They saw the Rory video and came home fired up to work even harder for this cause. Every time we see the emotion involved, the caring and giving that goes on in Rory’s name, it inspires us even more.” You can contact Campus Colors at 847-433-2300, or on the web at www.ecampuscolors.com. |
