Rory touches hearts internationally

“My name is Cindi Tivin and I am a first grade teacher in Germany at the Internationale School of Frankfurt, teaching students from all over the world. The Deutsch family so kindly donated Rory baseball caps for each student. Because of this, I felt the need to explain to the children where they came from and what a special boy Rory was. Although I never met Rory, I have heard from other people and went on the Rory website to find information I could teach my students.”

“The students immediately connected with many things Rory enjoyed, such as movies, Nintendo and the love for stars and space. We talked about how Rory used the lifeskills of caring and sharing. We read on the internet that two students at Rory's school, Indian Trail, portrayed these lifeskills in projects and received awards in honor of Rory. The children drew pictures of themselves showing "caring" and "sharing". The most touching, though, was when one child drew Rory flying in the sky with wings as an angel.”

“The children are so proud to wear the hats, and although they are not supposed to wear them in school, I make an exception and allow them to wear them in the classroom whenever they would like! A little lesson goes a long way, and I know that these children will never forget the special boy named Rory.”
