Out & About
Children's Memorial Hospital announced that it has received a $1 million gift to establish the Rory David Deutsch Malignant Brain Tumor Research Project, which will support cutting-edge brain tumor research at the hospital. Funds will go to basic clinical research aimed at developing new treatments for children with brain tumors.
The gift was made by the Rory David Deutsch Foundation, a national foundation established by Highland Park residents Ross and Mindy Deutsch and their family. Ross and Mindy's 7-year-old son, Rory, lost his life in 1998 to a brain tumor.
The new research project is under the direction of Stewart Goldman, MD, medical director of neuro-oncology at Falk Brain Tumor Center at Children's Memorial Hospital, director of the Center for Clinical Trials Research for the Children's Memorial Hospital.
