Melanie Hang of Highland Park expresses astonishment after Chicago Bulls player Ron Harper announces that she is the winner of a 1999 Lexus. The raffle was part of the Charity-Ball '99, which was held Sept. 18 in the Grand Ballroom of Navy Pier. The party, presented by the VisionTek Foundation, drew a crowd of about 2,500 guests and raised about $600,000, to benefit the Children's Memorial Medical Center for pediatric brain tumor research in memory of Rory David Deutsch, the Leukemia Research Foundation in memory of Danny Cunniff, and the American Cancer Society.
